This cool-season, perennial, rhizomatous fine textured bluegrass was first adapted to the Midwest then worked its
way into the Rocky Mountains as a pasture grass. Common
Kentucky bluegrass is commonly used in pasture and lawn mixtures. Common
Kentucky bluegrass is typically used to over-seed older, established lawn
areas. Common Kentucky Bluegrass has the ability to blend well with other older
varieties of grasses . Kentucky Bluegrass is found growing as high as 10,000 feet which makes it
an excellent grass for mountain meadows, soil stabilization and
general erosion control. Common Kentucky bluegrass shows
some drought tolerance, by going into dormancy very quickly when
water is withheld and becomes green again when moisture returns and the temperatures are
cooler. Sow Rate: 3 to 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Overseed at 2 to 3 pounds per
1,000 square feet
